Course & Agenda
The TOTS Training® course spans two intensive days, filled with informative and practical sessions. Day 1 begins with sign-in , followed by an introduction and pre-assessment activities. The morning sessions cover Embryology, Anatomy, Physiology, and Developmental Milestones. After lunch, the course delves into History, Theory, Research, and introduces the E3 Model of Care®, focusing on the first stage: Evaluation. Day 2 continues with the E3 Model of Care®, advancing through Evaluation, Education, and Execution stages. Participants will engage in hands-on workshops, interactive discussions, and post-assessment activities to ensure comprehensive learning and application.
TOTS® Training Objectives

Describe normal embryology, anatomy, physiology, and developmental milestones for optimal oral function

Reference current research regarding tethered oral tissues and correlated conditions

Evaluate for presence and impact tethered oral tissues have on oral function, including specific evaluation protocols, proper oral exam and report writing

Educate and communicate with patients, family, and other medical professionals regarding identification and treatment of tethered oral tissues, including educational tools and resources

Execute a treatment plan for optimizing oral function in the post release of tethered oral tissues, including active wound management and specific treatment techniques
Course Accreditation

Per the new ASHA guidelines effective in 2025, participants will be required to complete a competency quiz and a course evaluation.

Pathologists
This course is offered for 1.4 ASHA Approved CEUs (Intermediate Level, Professional Area). It is recognized by The American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). Please make sure to have your ASHA member number available if applicable. Satisfactory completion requires full attendance on both days. For in-person courses, there will be a sign-in and sign-out sheet. For online courses, the CE Assistant Director/Administrator will check usernames at the beginning of each day and periodically throughout each day and link them to the attendance roster. Each attendee who completes the course in full and completes a quiz with 80% or higher grade and the course evaluation will receive a certificate of completion/attendance.

*NOTE: This course is not approved for partial credit. Participants must attend the course in its entirety to receive continuing education units. All disciplines in attendance will receive a certificate upon completion of the course in its entirety for 14 hours of continuing education.
