I’m a lactation counselor in the South Chicago burbs. I offer both breastfeeding and bottle feeding support and I’m passionate about helping parents navigate and find the best help when faced with breastfeeding problems directly related to tethered oral tissues.
My practice has evolved from both my personal experience and from working with families for over ten years.
Abeille Speech + Feeding
Jodie is a graduate from Maryville University with a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology. Her passion for working with children and families started when working as a preschool teacher and continued into the fields of psychology and physical rehabilitation. She became interested in communication disorders and returned to school with the goal of working with children. She has continued with post graduate training to specialize in early language intervention, pediatric feeding and swallowing disorders, and oral sensorimotor function.
Jodie has a special interest in treating speech, language, and feeding disorders in children aged birth - 5 years-old. She has completed training in developmental feeding, feeding medically complex children, Tummy Time, TOTS (tethered oral tissues), extensive training in the Early Start Denver Model, LAMP (Language Acquisition through Motor Planning), and is currently pursuing certification as a lactation counselor.

Jody received her Bachelor of Science degree in Hearing & Speech Sciences from Ohio University in 1999 and her Master of Arts in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences from the University of Colorado-Boulder in 2001. She is certified nationally by the American Speech, Language, Hearing Association (ASHA), licensed by the States of California, New York, & Ohio, and holds an education certificate through the Ohio Department of Education.
Jody built her career as a pediatric speech-language pathologist in a multi-disciplinary private practice treating children with varying diagnoses. She develops individual treatment plans for her clients and includes parents, caregivers, and school staff in the planning of treatment. Her history of working in the field has given her the experience of treating children with a variety of developmental disorders, from early intervention through school age.
Jody's primary speciality is Childhood Apraxia of Speech.
