The STONES Approach

This advanced myofunctional course focuses on clinical decision-making and details with implementing treatment for an orofacial myofunctional disorder. Often times, clinicians know the goals for treatment, but need creative and successful strategies to achieve positive results. Additionally, it is not enough to demonstrate a skill in therapy; it should be executed without compensations and generalized to habitual function. There are many barriers to success that require outside referrals to other professionals and interventions. The course explores when and why these outside referrals are needed with treatment plan collaboration and sequencing.

This course is beneficial for participants who have taken an introductory myofunctional therapy course including:

  • Dental hygienists

  • Myofunctional Therapists

  • Occupational Therapists

  • Physical Therapists

  • Speech Language Pathologists

Participants who complete the training in its entirety will be granted permission to use and display “The STONES Approach” logo, as a designation to the public of their completion of the training. Rules of appropriate use will be communicated after successful completion of the course.

What Our Trained Professionals
Have to Say

"It was a great advanced level course that really helped to fill many gaps for me as well as solidify my understanding of other areas. The way you approach the online course with Zach answering questions about resources via chat and collecting questions so that we know we will be able to have them answered periodically throughout the course is awesome. It was an overall great opportunity and well worth it! Thanks so much for everything!"
Alison Hughes (Speech-Language Pathologist)
