As healthcare professionals, we are all on a lifelong journey of discovery to find better ways to help our clients.  To that end, the Cocoon is a place where professionals can come to learn more about how to develop their practices and better serve their patients.  All courses in the Cocoon are virtual and this page will continue to develop as more course offerings become available.

The Pre-Release Paradigm

It is more commonly known that therapy following a TOTs release procedure is indicated. The reality is that therapy prior to the TOTs release procedure should be implemented. This mini-course will discuss therapeutic interventions and considerations to achieve and determine therapeutic readiness in preparation for a TOTs release procedure. After completion, participants will be able to:

  • ï‚šDefine three types of tethered oral tissues

  • ï‚šDescribe the benefits of why therapy/intervention is important prior to a TOTs release procedure

  • ï‚šRecognize interventions that may be utilized prior to a TOTs release procedure

  • ï‚šï‚šEvaluate the markers in determining Therapeutic Readiness prior to a TOTs release procedure

  • List considerations requiring potential alterations in the pre-release markers.

Confidently Connecting for Collaboration  is offered for 0.2 ASHA Approved CEUs (Introductory Level, Professional Area). It is recognized by The American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). Please make sure to have your ASHA member number available if applicable. This course is not approved for partial credit. Participants must attend the course in its entirety to receive continuing education units.

 

Satisfactory Completion - To receive ASHA CEU credit for Confidently Connecting for Collaboration, learners must: (1) View every section of the course in its entirety and (2) pass the quiz at the end of the course with at least 80% correct.  Hours will be reported the month after completion of all requirements. Each attendee who completes the course in full will receive a certificate of completion/attendance.

Confidently Connecting for Collaboration (CCC)

Introduction Confidently Connecting for

Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders are prevalent and affect numerous areas of health. Professionals in a variety of fields need to be aware and collaborate in the identification and treatment of these issues. Navigating personalities and politics prove difficult when building a collaborative team for these complex disorders. However, it is imperative to have a collaborative team for these multi-faceted disorders. Here is the formula for how I built a full team from scratch.  

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify strategies to “recruit” interdisciplinary team members          

  • Differentiate between cooperation versus collaboration                      

  • Identify resources available on this topic and key members of a collaborative team

Cancellation - Virtual courses are non-refundable. Chrysalis Orofacial® is not responsible for any expenses incurred by registrants.

Special Accommodation Requests - If you require special accommodations, please notify Chrysalis Orofacial® prior to registration, so that necessary accommodations may be arranged.

Complaint Policy - When taking courses, Chrysalis Orofacial® students are encouraged, at all times, to communicate their concerns to course creators and/or the administrative team by emailing info@chrysalisorofacial.com. If a situation arises in which a student had a complaint or grievance regarding instruction or other topics related to his or her course, the student is to adhere to the following procedure:

1. Within 72 Hours: Discuss the matter with his or her online course instructor(s), if applicable. If not resolved,

2. Within the following 72 hours: Discuss the matter with the CE Director. The CE Director has the responsibility of reaching a decision that is in balance with the best interest of both the student and the organization. If a written response is needed, the student will be notified in writing within 5 business days of the CE Director’s decision. A student or any member of the public may file a grievance about this organization with the Better Business Bureau by calling (864) 242-5052 or by completing a complaint form, which can be obtained on the bureau’s internet web site (http://www.bbb.org).
